I purchased a good quality apron and machine embroidered and appliqued onto it in order to give it as a gift.
This mixer cover was made by sewing a lined tote, turned upside down. I added the embroidery designs (from EmbroideryDK online) before I sewed the pieces together and lined them. I used a dark denim fabric.
These in-the-hoop designs for masks are great for dress-up games for kids, or for Halloween or costume parties. Add elastic or ribbons to tie to the head of the wearer.
These in-the-hoop nail file covers are a lovely gift for a stocking filler, or quick gift for a colleague or neighbor. They have raw edges which have been decorated with a pinking scissors cut. Great for getting rid of your scraps, but interestingly made in a large hoop.
A friend told me how much she loved some baby pants with closed feet, such a this pair, that I had given her baby. I made this pair for her baby too. I added an embroidery design, and was pleased with the cute result. Check out on the applique/embroidery page to see how to alter pants by adding fabric to them, so that they last a month or two longer. Babies grow so quickly, resulting in a constant need to buy bigger clothes. With a quick insert of fabric, you could get more use of their clothes before you have to go out and buy the next batch.
Machine embroidery appliques on these tees were made on pieces of fabric, then attached to the tee with Steam a Seam bonding fabric. Applique on tees is not always comfortable for kids as they can be bulky so I wanted to see if doing it this way would make the garment comfortable in spite of the applique. Ironing it on meant that the inside is just the tee directly on the skin of the wearer. I added rhinestones to the tutu for some bling.
The tutu design is EmbroideryDK online and the button applique is Stickbaer de.
Finding time for craft, is finding time for yourself. Surely you are crafting for the love of it, and therefore, it must be good for your soul. Big projects take a while to complete, but small quick gifts like purses or mug rug are so satisfying and it means that you enjoy your craft space and have something to give to a person that you know would love it. What better feeling is there than that!
Sewing, machine embroidery, paper-craft, and stamping are my hobbies. At the moment die-cutting paper craft is my favorite, and I am sharing my projects with you on this website.
