I am starting a project with fabric journal making. Collage with fabric and embellishments is an extension of all my sewing and paper craft combined and I am excited to start something. Raw edges and inexact yet very specifically placed pieces are the essence of the piece. Here is the result of my work so far.
This bag was made using scrap fabric sent to me by XCVI. (#xcvi/diy) I used my embroidery machine and these teen girl designs to add to the fabric. Fully lined and reversible. Great to give as a gift to girls of all ages.
A lovely gift to make and give to an expectant mother is a bib or a number of them. This particular one was made with an all in the hoop design on an electronic embroidery machine. Bibs can be from the simplest knit, towel fabric, vinyl or created from scraps. I used the Babyville press studs for the closure.
Here is a hanger embroidered fox that can be a catch all for the odds and ends, bibs and pacifiers. A useful and pretty gift. I purchased teething rings to serve as rings. Later they can be given to a small child to play with.
🌈Having seen many multi-colored quilts, I decided to make one of paper. I used these bright card stock pieces to weave together a colorful page. I added Mediterranean theme stamps from Stampin Up to give it a theme. 🌈
💫This lady in green acrylics is a mixed media piece based on paper, acrylics and gesso. Very abstract art in the background and to color the lady.💫
🌷Texture paste on die cut ladies was used as the focal point for this mixed media work. Acrylic paints were used on a paper textured base. This was added to my mixed media journal.🌷
🌺Making a metallic 3D picture is really fun. I used a picture board and painted it with black gesso. I black-gessoed a picture I had done and didn’t like. I then cut the picture into pieces and as the pieces are of chipboard I was not able to cut them into particular forms. However the oddness of the shapes are fun to play with. I stuck each piece down with hot glue. Added metallic Viva Inca gold paints for effect.🌺
🐰These cute bunnies were made in the hoop. This was a purchased design and I made two of the sizes for a gift for a baby. The design is on Etsy. “Beestitchin” it is called Flopsy Bunny.🐰
🌸This sweet little die cut by Sizzix makes the cone. I made a bouquet using foam die cut flowers wrapped in purple tulle and glue gunned into the cone. The die has little holes so that you can thread ribbon through as I have done here. I added a little card too. Cute🌸
For this two page mixed media piece I used Dylusions Shimmer Ink , texture paste designs made with stencils, and stamps from Stampin Up. I was very pleased with the ink effect.
🌸This chipboard base was embellished with die cuts, Dylusions ink glimmer spray and flowers made with Heartfelt Creations flower stamps and dies.🌸
This is my second piece of mixed media art. I used gesso, paper squares for the background, Jane Davenport faces paper, diecuts of various brands. Tattered lace castle die and Heartfelt Creations dies for the flower.
Yesterday I watched mixed media YouTube’s the whole day. In the evening I got these two pages started and I completed them today. They are really colorful. For me it is very different to have a “messy” type of work but it is really fun and creative to do. I placed both of them in a journal.
The texture work was created on cardstock and the paper faces are Jane Davenport. The composition was my own.
Well, it seems as if one moves from one craft to the other as the mind expands by trying out different craftsand finding even more lovely things to do.
So, today I watched YouTube videos about mixed media and was excited about this one by Maremi’s SmallArt. She gave a wonderful lesson as well as some lovely philosophies about craft.
If the video does not run here you can find it on YouTube. Maremi’s SmallArt “1 texture 3 ideas”.
Sewing, machine embroidery, paper-craft, and stamping are my hobbies. At the moment die-cutting paper craft is my favorite, and I am sharing my projects with you on this website.
